A ring typically fashioned of chigaya reeds for the Nagoshi no Harae, a purification ritual held halfway through the year, on the last day of the sixth lunar month. The ring represents a temporal and spatial boundary between the mundane and the sacred, so that by walking through it and offering prayers, worshippers are ritually cleansed and protected from disease and other misfortune.
This year, a Shinto ritual will be performed by the chief priest of Hakusan Shrine on the evening of Saturday, June 27th, and guests staying at the hotel on that day are welcome to participate.
